Shall I take on a car?
Yesterday I was informed that I have the option to receive a gift owned by my late father. I haven't seen him for 24 years.
His new wife has offered me his Jaguar. It's a 1996 XJS Celebration Convertible.
The thing is, it has been garaged for the last 5 years. It is totally dusty and has 4 flat tyres. The engine hasn't been started in all that time.
On the plus side it only has 39K miles, has leather seats, is convertible and has a walnut dashboard.
If I take it on (and I do have the option to say no) then I'll have to take it from the lockup in Gosport, Hampshire to my house in Cheltenham.
My dilemma is whether I am landing myself with more problems than benefits.
If you know about cars, or Jags in particular, or even just have a hunch, let me know please what you think I should do.

It may need a little work but it will probably be worth it. If it has sat for 5 years, it probably won't start. It will probably need a new battery and the gas will probably need to be drained, since the gas is more than likely bad. The tires are flat because, over time, tires lose air pressure. You may be able to just fill them but if it's been outside or stored where the weather can get to them, they are probably dryrotted. Get new ones regardless.
The benefits outweigh the problems. Like others have said, you could sell it. It would get you some decent money. Just put new tires on it and let it go if you want, but I'd put some money into it and see what happens.
